Rope Rescue Service

Code Red Safety performs rope rescue techniques when doing confined space rescues and high angle rescues. Many customers ask us why we prefer rope rescue to mechanical rescue. The following is a brief explanation of why we feel rope rescue techniques are better than mechanical in almost any scenario:

Rope rescue allows an almost unlimited number of techniques and combinations of techniques to perform high angle and confined space rescues from any area. The primary benefits to rope rescue:

Flexibility of the rescue system to fit any situation

Strength – rope systems are actually stronger tensile strength wise than conventional mechanical systems

Each of use – once set up a rope rescue system is easier and quicker to use in extracting injured personnel from confined spaces and high angles

Multiple rescues – mechanical rescues typically can only rescue one person at a time, but if you look at our rescue blog you will see that the average number of people usually rescued from a confined space or high angle is two or more. In a dangerous situation who wants to be last?

Code Red Safety uses the NFPA and OSHA in defining it’s training criteria and standards when setting up our rope rescue training. The following are a few of the standards that Code Red Safety uses:

  • OSHA - 29 CFR 1910.146 paragraphs K and L – requirements for rope rescue
  • NFPA 1670 2009 standards on operations and training for technical rope rescue
  • NFPA 1006 2008 lists standards for rope rescue technician professionals
  • NFPA 1983 2006 is the standard on equipment for rope rescue

Our rope rescue techs have the following minimum training and experience before they do customer field work:

  • 40 hr rope rescue training
  • Confined space training
  • OSHA 10
  • 1st Aid/CPR
  • 3 months field experience within multiple facilities
